Celler Miquel Roca is a small family winery surrounded by a beautiful landscape. It is located in the town of Sant Cristòfol de la Vall, in the Barcedana valley, some fifteen minutes from the reservoir of Terradets. This valley lies at the foot of Montsec, an area to the north of Montsec de Rúbies, in the county of Pallars Jussà, in the province of Lleida.
After several wine-producing generations, thirty years ago, Miquel Roca decided to build a winery and devote himself to professional wine-growing. Today his daughter is following in his footsteps.
Our commitment to quality in our final products is the basis of our work ethic. We believe in minimal intervention in both the treatment of our vineyards and in the production of wine. Even though our production in terms of bottles is still limited, our aim is to expand slightly in the coming years and concentrate on improving indigenous grape varieties.
The micro-climate of this valley in the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees, which is described as being ‘Mediterranean Mountain’ in character is excellent for wine-growing. High levels of insolation and a marked thermal contrast (the difference between day and night temperatures) are the main factors that favour successful maturity and grape quality.
